Jianzong Wang is a vice chief engineer and the director of the Intelligent Finance Frontier Technology Research Institute at PAT. He is an outstanding member of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and an executive member of the Big Data Expert Committee and the Quantum Computing Expert Committee. He has made pioneering contributions in the field of federated learning and privacy computing, and has been selected as one of the China Privacy Computing Innovators by MIT Technology Review in 2022. He has published more than 200 papers and a total of four monographs, two of which are about federated learning, as well as more than 400 patents. He is an associate editor of the IEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society and serves as the Area Chair for ICASSP 2025, where he is responsible for two main tracks: Distributed and Federated Learning, and Deep Learning Fairness and Privacy. He is also a reviewer for many prestigious journals and conferences. He has won many awards, such as the Shenzhen Futian District Most Beautiful Science and Technology Person (Science and Technology Star) in 2023, the Shenzhen Science and Technology Progress Patent Award (First Completion Person) in 2022, and the China Patent Excellence Award (First Completion Person) in 2019. He has also led the development of the intelligent outbound call robot project, which has brought huge economic value and positive social impact to the insurance industry. He has participated in and hosted several national and provincial research projects, and has actively engaged in student cultivation and talent development.
He obtained his joint PhD degree in Computer Architecture from Huazhong University of Science and Technology & Rice University, under the supervision of Professor Changsheng Xie & Professor Peter Varman. He was awarded a scholarship by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and sent to Rice University in the United States as the 100th State-Sponsored PhD Students. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in deep learning and AI at the University of Florida, under the supervision of Professor Xiaolin Li. He is currently a co-supervisor of master’s students at Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, China University of Geosciences, Huazhong Normal University, and Huaqiao University.
